Genuinely Deceitful

Her childhood was filled with fairy tales and mysteries.

Conspiracy theories that never came to be

and scary stories that didn’t seem that scary.

Monsters under the bed that became her friends

and skeletons in her closet that danced when she said.

Mythological creatures that would visit her at night,

away from the adults to scheme in delight.

Life at that time was full of smiles and play, but she grew up, and it all went away.

Her overactive imagination made her long for the past.

A dream world with no foundation

way up in the clouds left her craving.

Diagnosed with fantasy prone personality

and alienated from her family.

Stuck in a place between child and adult

and left with no valid ways to cope.

Life gave her a reality check that left her hopes and dreams in a wreck.

Her future keeps changing, and she can’t keep up.

Adulthood was a sweet lie

that only gave her the choice to comply.

Compromises that seemed ever in her favor

and scams that advertised to save her.

Problems she treated like hidden quests

just so she could escape all the stress.

Life is a trickster that gives you a jacket with no sleeves in an eternal winter.
